“Rowshan Ara Skill Center”: A Platform for Women to Become Empowered

The isolated river island of Char Shonpocha in Bangladesh’s Bogura District is struggling with severe economic circumstances that are made worse by climate change vulnerability. Women have more obstacles to overcome and are underrepresented in the workforce. The region’s poor infrastructure, scarcity of resources, and climate-related problems exacerbate existing issues, making immediate actions necessary to boost the local economy and empower women.

Rowshan Ara Skill Center is AMAL’s one of the successful initiatives that helped 155 women to achieve economic and social independent. This skill center provided training in saree and clothing making, including techniques like tie-dyeing, quilting, block printing, and embroidery. And also enabled women to sell their crafted products for financial support.

Through this center, Amal facilitated financial independence for 155 women. Empowered them by addressing personal, family, and societal concerns. From the crafts they learn from the center, they were able to support themselves by selling their them in the local market place. Rowshan Ara center has contributed immensly to economic and social independence of women in Char Shonpocha, Bogura.
