The escalating cold wave poses a critical challenge as vulnerable populations, particularly the poor and their children, face heightened health risks due to inadequate protection from the harsh weather. Things turn for the worse as the poor, who are not physically strong enough to venture out for work, and their children suffer from respiratory tract diseases when exposed to such hostile weather. Those that live in the streets under the open sky often do not get blankets or warm clothes to protect themselves.
Since 2015, Amal Foundation has annually undertaken actions to support the underprivileged community during the winter season. The organization’s efforts involve providing essential winter items such as blankets, warm clothes, quilts, sweaters, mufflers, and winter kit packs containing items like lotion, petroleum jelly, honey, and coconut oil.
Through the winter aid project, Amal has successfully assisted morethan 200,000 beneficiaries across various districts, including Bogura, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Nilphamari, Jessore, Patuakhali, Gopalganj, Faridpur, Habiganj, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangpur, Comilla, Khulna, Sunamganj, Rajbari, Natore, and Chandpur. As a result, those who benefit from these locations can spend the winter months without limitations.
