Education stands as the paramount force in breaking the chains of generational poverty. In char and coastal areas of Bangladesh where people constantly have to fight for basic needs, education is a luxury. Children in impoverished conditions, grapple with severe deprivation, hindering their ability to plan for the future. Limited access to essential resources compounds their struggle for a decent education and future security. These include the scarcity of educational facilities, subpar quality of education, a shortage of teachers, prevailing poverty, exorbitant school fees, and inadequate nutrition.
In the year 2017, recognizing this pressing need, Amal Foundation took proactive steps by commencing the construction of ‘Uchchash School’ for underprivileged children in Char Shonpocha, Bogra. This educational institution enrolls 50 students annually for primary education aged between 6 to 8 years old. In addition to providing fundamental education, Ucchash School offers a range of additional benefits to its students that includes free of cost education, free tiffin, monthly medical checkup, uniform and stationaries, child brain development activities, etc.
This initiative has changed the lifestyle of every child as char area. Ucchash School students now can clearly understand as well as read and write English, Bengali and Math. They also actively participate in various physical activities, celebrate important occasions and days, take part in competitions, engaged in interactive learning sessions, storytelling, and a multitude of other enriching experiences.
