In collaboration with British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) and Prerona Foundation, a transformative training center has been inaugurated in the heart of Chuniyapara, Kushtia. This initiative was specifically designed to address the educational needs of the elderly population, focusing on imparting basic literacy skills in Bangla, English, and Mathematics. The aim was to empower adults lacking formal education by teaching them to write their names in both Bangla and English, construct new words, comprehend newspapers and documents, and conduct basic mathematical calculations.
The plan for this session was comprehensive. The training center provided essential literacy skills to 60 male adults lacking education. The curriculum was tailored to enable participants to not only write their names proficiently in both languages but also to form new words and grasp fundamental mathematical concepts. By the end of the program, these individuals acquired the foundational skills necessary to navigate written language, fostering a sense of confidence and independence in their daily lives.
The result of the initiative was a community of empowered individuals who, having completed the program, equipped with newfound literacy skills. Beyond the ability to write their names and engage with basic literacy, these adults will have the tools to read newspapers, comprehend documents, and perform elementary mathematical tasks. This initiative, driven by the collaborative efforts of BATB, Prerona Foundation, and the local community, aspired to break the barriers of illiteracy and paved the way for a more informed and empowered society in Chuniyapara.
