Overview: Our lives are extremely uncertain, and we never know what the next minute holds for the any of us. Human lives and mother nature are ambiguous. Disasters can cause momentous physical mutilation, interruption of business services and personal injury and even loss of lives. Crisis might occur putting the mask of humans as well. 4.5% of the global refugees are located in Bangladesh. Hundreds of thousands of terrorized Rohingya people have crossed the border and entered our Bangladesh. Sixty percent of them are children and they all spoke about witnessing unspeakable violence. These children have been extremely impacted, both physically and mentally and yet they continue to live in terrible situations without access to food, water, healthcare or education. Natural disasters are unpredictable but yet can be shielded to some extent with proper prevention method, support method and post disaster steps can ease the whole process.
Why it matters: Refugees are burning their few belongings to keep themselves warm. Mothers haven’t eaten in days, choosing instead to give their rations to their starving children. Boys and girls are on their deathbeds because there aren’t enough medical supplies in the refugee camps to treat their simple illnesses. Human beings are the greatest creation of this planet. We have invented many sorts of technology to make our lives easier in every way. And it is us who need to stand in front of every creature on this planet as their shield. It is stated, “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” ― John Holmes. Disasters, either man-made or natural is uncertain but to stand firm to support the distress in such circumstances is what we believe in times of a crisis, it is important that there is somebody for everybody because it’s not possible to go through the trauma and all the mental and physical damages all by yourself. As human beings, we need to support those in need and stand by their side and try to help them come out of their misery and start afresh. Because together we are a civilization, not alone.
What Amal is doing: Amal believes in serving humanity at any disaster. We have so far provided 300 water-wells to the drought areas and that gives the underprivileged access to clean water. We also provide yearly winter kits to thousands of underprivileged people which contain blankets, sweaters, etc to protect them from the cold and wind outside. We also help fire and flood victims by distributing aids to them such as food and medicine, we have been doing it since the last five years in many districts of Bangladesh. We have also helped the people who have lost their homes because of these disasters by providing them with tin and helping them rebuild their sweet homes and create even sweeter memories. We also arrange health camps for the victims where our efficient team of doctors and volunteers provide them with health checkups and distribute medicines to them.
