The Climate Warrior Project

The Climate Warrior Project

Duration : 10 Dec 2023 To 15 Dec 2023

Location: Amal Foundation

Climate change disproportionately affects marginalized communities, exacerbating social and economic inequalities. These communities, often situated in low-lying, flood-prone areas, are also vulnerable to water scarcity and extreme weather events. In response to this urgent issue, AMAL Foundation, in partnership with United Finance, launched The Climate Warrior Project—an initiative designed to empower youth with the knowledge and resources needed to combat climate change and contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable future.

The primary goal of The Climate Warrior Project is to promote sustainability and equip young people with the tools to address climate challenges. Focused on Char Shonpocha, Sariakandi, Bogura, the project provided training to approximately 100 youth in various skills, including leadership, sewing, stitching, and agriculture. The aim was to foster the development of eco-friendly communities, empowering young people to be self-reliant while adapting to the impacts of climate change.

The first cohort of the project has already completed their training, with 40 youth successfully gaining new skills. Beyond the practical knowledge, the initiative has helped these individuals realize how climate change affects them directly. Equipped with these skills and heightened awareness, they are now better prepared to adapt to climate impacts, support their families, and contribute to sustainable development in their communities.

The Climate Warrior Project has proven to be a powerful platform for empowering youth, helping them take control of their future by providing skills training and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility.
