The “Future Roots: Climate Hub for Youth” is a two-year initiative led by Amal Foundation and WomenStrong, empowering 370 young women to become leaders in climate action in Bangladesh. The program addresses the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and girls by building a generation of female leaders who can promote gender-responsive climate solutions. It aligns with national and global goals by combining capacity building, grassroots engagement, storytelling, research, and advocacy.

At the program’s core is the Climate Catalyst Fellowship, which immerses 30 female students and professionals in workshops and field visits. The top five of the 15 teams presenting solutions will receive micro-grants for implementation. The Youth Lens on Climate – Digital Storytelling Campaign will train 20 young women in eco-journalism, while the Eco Scholar Program will fund 30 students for gender-climate research. The Climate & Gender Dialogue Series will engage 200 university students, and Amal staff will receive training to enhance their climate programming.
The project also features a Digital Climate Impact Platform to showcase participant work and a Roundtable Discussion to foster collaboration among 50 stakeholders from government, NGOs, and academia.

Expected outcomes include training 30 women to lead community actions, implementing five climate solutions, and publishing 20 digital stories and 30 research papers. The initiative aims to influence policy discourse on gender in climate action and contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 and 13. By blending skill development with advocacy and partnership building, the project is designed to create lasting change.
