Senior citizens from underprivileged backgrounds often face significant challenges due to lack of familial support, leaving them vulnerable to isolation, neglect, and inadequate healthcare. For many, aging is marked by loneliness, financial insecurity, and limited access to essential services, resulting in deteriorating physical and mental well-being. Without proper care, these individuals struggle to live with the dignity they deserve.
To address these critical issues, AMAL Foundation launched Project Jonaki, an elderly rehabilitation program aimed at providing essential care and support for senior citizens who have no one to rely on. In collaboration with Aastha Trust, AMAL Foundation took responsibility for the welfare of these individuals, ensuring they receive basic necessities such as food, housing, and medicine.

The initiative has already made a significant impact, with 500 senior citizens benefiting from monthly housing and food aid in Dacurchak, Bogura district. This support not only meets their immediate needs but also ensures that they are treated with respect and provided a safe, nurturing environment in their later years.
Through Project Jonaki, AMAL Foundation is helping to foster a sense of community care for senior citizens, ensuring they can live with the dignity and comfort they deserve. By addressing both their physical and emotional needs, the program contributes to a more compassionate society where the elderly are valued and supported.
