Project Refuge: Rebuilding Rohingya Lives

Project Refuge: Rebuilding Rohingya Lives

Duration : 10 Dec 2023 To 15 Dec 2023

Location: Amal Foundation

Imagine fleeing your home in the dead of night, leaving everything behind, and stepping into the unknown with nothing but fear and uncertainty. This has been the reality for the Rohingya refugees since September 2017, when violence and persecution forced them to abandon their homes. Today, they continue to endure unimaginable hardships in overcrowded camps with scarce resources.

Life in these camps is marked by lack of clean water, inadequate shelter, poor healthcare, and limited access to sanitation, education, and employment opportunities. With homes destroyed and livelihoods lost, refugees remain highly vulnerable, struggling each day for survival.

In response, Amal Foundation launched Project Refuge, dedicated to addressing both immediate and long-term needs. The initiative has focused on providing basic infrastructure, including the construction of shelters, sanitation facilities, mosques, schools, and skill centers for women, ensuring dignity while fostering resilience within the community.

To ease immediate suffering, Amal Foundation has distributed ration packs, hygiene kits, winter supplies, Ramadan food packs, Iftar and Eid gifts, and hot meals. Access to clean water has also been prioritized, alongside the rehabilitation of orphans, offering them care and protection in an otherwise harsh environment.

These impactful efforts have been made possible through partnerships with One Ummah, Thrive, Hope Humanitarian, Muslim Aid, and AR-Rahman Trust. Together, they have directly supported over 50,000 refugees, going beyond relief to promote self-sufficiency, health, and community solidarity.

Through Project Refuge, Amal Foundation has not only delivered life-saving aid but also created pathways for lasting change, helping refugees reclaim dignity, restore hope, and move toward a future built on resilience and belonging.
