In times of crisis, unity becomes our greatest strength. When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, it devastated lives and systems worldwide. In Bangladesh, with its overcrowded cities and fragile healthcare system, the crisis exposed deep vulnerabilities in public health, the economy, and social stability. Lockdowns and restrictions left millions, especially daily wage earners, without income and struggling to meet their most basic needs.
Amal Foundation responded with urgency by launching Project Unity at the very outset of the outbreak. The initiative began with mobile hand wash centers in high-traffic areas of Dhaka, promoting hygiene practices and helping curb the spread of the virus in densely populated neighborhoods.

As the pandemic escalated and the country entered full lockdown, Amal Foundation expanded its efforts to focus on essential food and hygiene relief. Strict health protocols were maintained to protect both volunteers and recipients. The scale of the outreach was significant: the foundation distributed 20,950 ration packs and 20,000 protective masks across 17 districts, including Bogura, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Nilphamari, Jessore, Patuakhali, Gopalganj, Faridpur, Habiganj, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangpur, Comilla, Khulna, and Bagerhat.
The impact of Project Unity was profound. It went beyond distributing supplies, it provided dignity, resilience, and hope to those most affected. The initiative demonstrated that in moments of hardship, solidarity and compassion can make survival possible and strengthen community bonds.

Amal Foundation remains unwavering in its commitment to vulnerable communities, carrying forward the lesson that real change is possible when we come together in unity, even in the face of the greatest challenges.
