In the Jamtoli Rohingya Camp of Cox’s Bazar, where overcrowding and deprivation leave little room for hope, thousands of children face overwhelming barriers to education. Cut off by geographic isolation and lacking infrastructure, their dreams of learning often fade into uncertainty.
In 2018, Amal Foundation, with the heartfelt support of the Hasmal Family, changed this reality by establishing the Promise Learning Centre; a space built not just with bricks but with compassion and the belief that education can transform lives.
The center began by enrolling 93 children, offering them more than lessons. Alongside formal education, the program provided free meals, regular health checkups, and field activities, ensuring balance, well-being, and joy in their daily lives. For the first time, these children could study without the constant burden of hunger or illness.
Very quickly, the Promise Learning Centre became more than a school; it became a sanctuary. Within its walls, children rediscovered the right to dream, to learn, and to grow. Each book, each shared story, and each lesson opened new doors, helping them imagine a future filled with possibility and hope.
The center remains a symbol of resilience and opportunity, proving that even in the harshest conditions, education can pierce through despair and build brighter tomorrows. With the unwavering commitment of Amal Foundation and the support of compassionate partners, the Promise Learning Centre continues to ensure that refugee children don’t just survive, but thrive, gaining the tools to rise above their circumstances and shape their futures.
