The Zakat Empowerment Project stands as a testament to Amal Foundation’s dedication to creating long-term, sustainable change in the lives of marginalized communities. In 2024, the initiative continued to leverage Zakat funds to address the root causes of poverty, illiteracy, and inadequate healthcare, offering a holistic approach that combines education, healthcare support, and economic empowerment. The primary goal is to move beyond short-term aid and instead help individuals and families build self-sufficient lives.

In 2024, with the support of One Ummah and individual donations, Zakat funds were collected and carefully distributed to ensure lasting impact. A total of 210 participants got this aid. These funds were used to provide productive assets to vulnerable individuals, enabling them to start or grow income-generating activities. Specifically, the project supported 200 participants with goats and sheep. Furthermore, 3 participants received goats, 2 with rikshaws, and 5 small shops. Each asset was selected based on the recipients’ needs and potential for sustainable income generation within their communities.

Through these strategic interventions, Amal Foundation empowered individuals not only with financial resources but also with the tools for long-term self-reliance. Rickshaws offer immediate daily earnings, shops provide small-scale entrepreneurial opportunities, and sewing machines allow for home-based income, especially for women. The distribution of goats and sheep supports animal husbandry, a valuable and accessible livelihood in rural areas.

By channeling Zakat towards livelihood creation rather than one-time assistance, the project has reduced participants’ dependence on charity while equipping them to uplift themselves and their families. The 2024 achievements of the Zakat Empowerment Project reaffirm Amal Foundation’s mission to foster dignity, independence, and resilience in vulnerable communities.
